LEVANTO AND SURROUNDINGS

  1. HIKING

Levanto is the ideal place for trekking lovers. In addition to being the gateway to the Cinque Terre, it offers the possibility of making numerous excursions and walks immersed in nature and the characteristic Ligurian landscape.

Here are some ideas:

  • Path from Levanzo to Punta Mesco. This is a route that starts from the Levanto seafront and leads to Punta Mesco. The promontory of Punta Mesco separates the bay of Levanto from that of Monterosso: it is in fact possible to continue along the path up to the famous village of Cinque Terre.
  • A very interesting alternative is a food and wine route that winds for around 12 kilometers in the Levantine hinterland. It is covered entirely on foot, passing through the hamlets of Lavaggiorosso, Casella, Groppo and Montale, passing through still intact landscapes.
  • Levanto-Bonassola. This path immediately offers beautiful views of Levanto. Once you reach the highest part of the mountain you descend towards the town of Scernio. From here you can see the first glimpses of Bonassola, my next destination, perfect for a stop on the beach. To return to Levanto you must follow the cycle path built along the ancient route of the ancient railway.
  1. BIKES

Going out by bike is one of the best ways to experience nature in the surroundings of Levanto, in fact one of the most fascinating cycle paths in Liguria starts from here: the MareMonti cycle path which connects Levanto to Bonassola and Framura.

  • The route develops along the ancient single-track railway that connected Genoa and Pisa. During the journey the sea alternates with tunnels offering unforgettable views! Traveling along it you will also have the opportunity to visit the characteristic villages of Bonassola and Framura. In the first village, do not miss the Madonnina della Punta, a characteristic pink church overlooking the sea.

Other recommended bike routes:

  • Vandarecca Tunnel – Framura Circular itinerary from Levanto
  • Panorama Track – Levanto seafront Circular itinerary from Levanto
  • Many of the excursions that can be done in the surroundings of Levanto can also be done by mountain bike. One of these is that of the Alta Via delle Cinque Terre: from Levanto to Portovenere. The route is not easy and requires some experience, but along the trail the stops will be accompanied by magnificent views of the villages and the sea.
