At 9:00 PM, enjoy a live performance by Mule Variations, the latest project by acclaimed songwriter Kevin Connolly and legendary harmonica player Jim Fitting. Together they create one of the warmest, most authentic voices in today’s American roots music, blending country, blues, folk, soul and roots rock into a powerful and deeply emotional live experience. Their music takes audiences on a journey through the heart of small-town America, where intimate storytelling meets the raw energy of blues and alternative rock.

Kevin Connolly has long been recognised as one of Boston’s finest singer-songwriters. His solo albums have earned international acclaim, including in Italy, where his record Little Town received outstanding reviews from the magazine Buscadero. His songs combine cinematic storytelling with honest, emotional songwriting and have featured in numerous tv and film productions. Performing Songwriter Magazine included his work among the finest independent American albums, praising his ability to capture everyday life with the same poetic depth found in artists such as Bob Dylan and John Prine.

Alongside him is Jim Fitting, one of America’s most respected harmonica players. Co-founder of the legendary Treat Her Right with Mark Sandman, Fitting helped shape the unmistakable sound that later influenced Morphine, with whom he also collaborated. Throughout his remarkable career he has performed with The The, Session Americana, Bonnie Raitt, Los Lobos, Pixies and many other internationally renowned artists. Rather than following traditional blues conventions, Fitting transforms the harmonica into a rhythmic, expressive instrument, effortlessly moving between country melodies, garage rock energy and punk-inspired intensity.

Born in Boston as a heartfelt tribute to the great heroes of American songwriting, Mule Variations evolved from the stage into the studio with their debut album Alive and Kicking. Recorded live by Frank Coakley and released in Italy by New Shot Records, the album perfectly captures the band’s signature Lo-Fi Swamp Groove: a rich blend of urban ballads, rural soul, muddy blues and garage rock. The record features four original songs by Kevin Connolly alongside inspired reinterpretations of classics by JJ Cale, Tom Waits, Bruce Springsteen and Van Morrison, all delivered with deep respect while making each song unmistakably their own. Their summer tour promises unforgettable evenings filled with authentic American roots music, outstanding musicianship and genuine emotion.
