An explosive mix to kick off the summer event season at Collina San Michele Camping! Do you know Woody Guthrie? The founding father of American protest folk, the inspiration behind artists like Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen? Well — Sarah is his granddaughter. Same blood, same spirit, same powerful notes. The artists! If Woody Guthrie was the pioneer of American folk and protest songs — the spiritual father of Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and every songwriter who ever tried to change the world with an acoustic guitar and a harmonica — his legacy was carried on by his son Arlo Guthrie (famous for Alice’s Restaurant), and now by his granddaughter, Sarah Lee Guthrie.

Her path was written early: her first time on stage was at Carnegie Hall at just fourteen, performing with her father Arlo on Sailin’ Down My Golden River by Pete Seeger. Sarah carries forward the family message with a “gentle urgency,” clarity of spirit and voice. In 2009 she released the award-winning Go Waggaloo, a family album mixing original songs and her grandfather’s works, leading to The Guthrie Family Rides Again tour. Raised in Massachusetts and now based in Texas, she’s working on a new album, previewed by the single Honey and the Dew. Touring Italy in April, she performs alongside Radoslav Lorkovic.

Their message? This land is your land!

Born in Zagreb in 1958, Radoslav Lorkovic was introduced to music by two extraordinary grandmothers: one a guardian of Central European folk traditions, the other a renowned classical pianist. After moving to the U.S. at six, he discovered blues and toured with major artists, while exploring southern sounds like Professor Longhair and James Booker, and diving into accordion, Tex-Mex and Zydeco. Blending classical, jazz, blues, country and soul, he has built a rich musical language, releasing 10 albums and collaborating with world-class artists including Jackson Browne and Shawn Mullins. His performances are a kaleidoscope of sounds. A journey through blues, rock’n’roll, Tex-Mex, Balkan music and ballads inspired by legends like Tom Waits, Jerry Lee Lewis and Randy Newman.
